A nature-story for children, set in the
Northumberland countryside!
Deep within the countryside, inside a beautiful walled garden… a collection of dazzling flowers bloom and grow…
…but what happens when the garden door closes and nobody is watching?
Can the plants and flowers learn to grow together nicely, and create the harmony that already exists… in the mysterious ‘meadow beyond the wall’?
A story that is packed with ‘heart’ and inspired by the beautiful walled garden at Wallington Hall, Northumberland.
Beautifully illustrated by the artist Rachael Sligo, it is a tribute to the beauty of nature and the inspiration that the natural world can offer.
Nature activities are included, to engage young readers with their surroundings, wherever they may live.
We all need nature!

Reviews…
‘Wonderful heart-warming story and beautifully illustrated - would recommend!!
What a wonderful book with a really lovely message for children. I bought this for my niece and she absolutely loves it and has even tried to draw some of the characters from the garden herself. I've been looking for this because I attended Jodie's fab workshop at Wallington Hall (National Trust) this summer and saw it displayed in their gorgeous walled garden (worth a trip!). So glad to finally get a copy and will be buying as gifts for others!’

‘I loved the story in the walled garden [at Wallington]!
A powerful message for children and adults, and beautifully illustrated too. The book here is just as lovely as it was in the garden.’

‘Every time I look at this book, I find something new to love!
…Children can learn more about flowers, plants and animals, alongside a gentle lesson in friendship and kindness. Nestled within this book, children are hearing how to resolve conflict and develop resilience, alongside the wonderful nature theme of the story.
There are activities at the end of the book too, which appeal to the former teacher in me… all lesson planning - done!
